How do you even imagine that would work? And now, of course, people start crying that their computers got infected with malware. Which is great - every genius who fell for this obvious phishing scam deserved it. I hope your shitty computer burns and you along with it.

Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

Nintendo STEALS Money!Since this has been going around lately, I should probably give my two cents. Basically what it amounts to is that Nintendo has filed Content ID info of their games with YouTube. What this means is that if you upload gameplay video of a Nintendo game, YouTube will automatically monetize that video, put ads on it, a link to where to buy the game, and take the money generated from that video and give it directly to Nintendo. People who do "let's play" videos are, naturally, pissed off because they want to be earning money off their videos, so they're calling Nintendo "thieves" for doing this.
I can see both sides to the story. I can see Nintendo as a corporation wanting to exercise control over their properties. On the other hand, "let's play" videos can often help new gamers find games they otherwise wouldn't have tried.
But here's the thing: Nintendo isn't the first company do this. Both Microsoft and Ubisoft do it already. YouTube has also had a long history of having music videos and

And many of you have already changed your usernames.

3 or 4 years ago, I wouldn't have had second thoughts, but now...
Aren't you afraid that people won't actually know who you are anymore?

Yes, it says "Formerly known as..." but you gotta reach the main page to see that...

I was looking for someone, the other day, in my notes... And I realized after 5 minutes of searching, that I can't find that person anymore.
It just got me really confused...

People know me as ImaginaryRosse, wouldn't it be confusing to change my name?

if you go to [oldusername].deviantart.com it still take them to the page under their new name... But yeah, I see where you`re coming from. And like I'm keeping up old art to show who I once was, I`m keeping my old username. A part of my past is a part of me.

Luckily people usually stick with the same version of their username, only polished, looking a bit better, or many of the switch to their real name, or username they already use somewhere else, so in these cases it's not that hard to know who they are. Personally, when I see someone picked something completely different then I try to remember it. Plus, when the artists that matter to you the most/ you're dA friends with/communicate with at least sometimes, you will know who they are. tolkienmaster, for example, changed into `EmberRoseArt and I instantly remembered it.

Our old usernames lead to the new ones, you can put in your old username in the signature so people know who you are in case they don't remember your avatar. Also, different username won't affect change how much feedback you get. Even if people don't know your new username, when they type your old one they'll be directed to the new one. Any confusion lasts only for a while.

I thought that, I would not chance my deviantart name for anything because I believe it represents me it is unique and that's how people knows me, some of my friends have changed it and I have to tell you that it does change the way you perceive them it takes you time to recognize who is who...

All of your watchers do get a notification that your name has changed. That helps a whole lot.

I think the point is that you have a chance to brand yourself differently. A new name would be beneficial even if it is a little confusing for existing watchers. This is of course looking from the viewpoint that your previous name was not correlating with your business or artistic direction.

But then again, nothing is ever easy or works exactly how we want it to the first time. Including what username you created your DA account with. Including years later when you *finally* get the chance to change it.

Yeah it can get confusing. I had a double take with a few people. For me it was about growing into a name that I felt matched my art (I picked my original one without a real intention of using deviantart, I just wanted to download tutorials, lol). I was tagging my art under my new name for the last year or so I think the transition is easy. Besides I feel like the only people that recognize me are the longtime photomanippers.

I wrote my old name in my signature and I've seen a few others do this. Plus, I keep my avatar I've had for years. I keep activity messages in my inbox until I'll get used to the new names of people I watch (I deleted the first 2 mechanically before I realized that info could be useful). It's difficult now because everyone who wanted a change did it at the same time when the feature was introduced but from now on there will be a lot fewer changes.

I'll have no problem with change my name 'cause most of my watchers don't actually remember me lol and would be a good opportunity to start to zero. People change after 5 or 6 years and it's more easy than make a new account, but yeah it's a problem find someone who used to be "X" and now is "Y", maybe dART need fix that with some option like "show first nickname" in the manage friends O:
